“What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have” – Oprah
February for Rack Life has started out as awareness month. The reason we have chosen this is the need for us to become fully present to where we are, physically, mentally and emotionally. For us, it is time to check in to ourselves and get really clear about the year ahead.
I guess this stems from the previous two months being filled with social busy-ness, travel, and opening our new and exciting business. We stopped at the end of the month and said to ourselves “wow, we’ve really let our awareness slip”. This happens a lot and it’s not so much that getting caught up in life is a bad thing, as long as we take the time to step away from the chaos and slow our mind and energy to get really clear.
So why is it important to get clear? I guess, it’s so we can feel the alignment to what’s good for us, and for our vision. Rachael and I aim to spend most of our time, operating from a place called “Flow” where we make decisions that feel authentically right. As business owners, it can be easy to get caught up in financials, opinions, things other people are doing. It’s very easy to get out of the flow and go into “Force” – I have to do this or that to be successful.
I wanted to share with you the feeling of flow that I recognise as authenticity in my life. From what I understand:
The action is less focused on the outcome, but the feeling of alignment within our emotional scale that feels right. We talk about gut feeling, it’s in the gut. This is linked to our emotional state which is in turn linked with all of the information that we are consciously aware of or not.
This is something that we’re really big on, and I think many of us whether we’re business owners or not, understand the feeling of force in our life. It feels hard, it feels uneasy, it just doesn’t feel exciting. But how do we get out of this hamster wheel and into something that feels better. It starts with you, it starts here and starts right now. That’s if you choose.
The one thing that rings true every time is that every being is wanting to feel good, that every being is wanting peace and to feel acknowledged in who they are. At times this is hard, as we have expectations of things in our own life.

Giving someone the space to be the person they are is to allow them to be authentic to what is right for them and it this is the best gift we can give someone and to ourselves. It may require acknowledging our feelings that are not “positive” and feeling the emotions of things we have repressed or pushed away. This is the practice of letting go. As we let our emotions move through us, we allow ourselves to let go of their hold over our mind and how we think. Emotions are stronger than thoughts, and need to be felt. Often though, it is our fear of the emotion itself that prevents us from looking at it, from feeling it.
When we started Rack Life Rachael and I quickly felt the difference between being in flow or out. When out of flow, we could feel the tension between us, the lack of ideas popping up and lack of momentum. It didn’t happen often in the process of finding our location, or getting things done as we allowed our creative process to evolve as we did. However, when we did find ourselves stuck, we really felt it.
What do you do when you’re stuck? Interestingly through the process of the build and setting up our business, I stumbled back onto an author I hadn’t seen in many years and who wrote a profound book called “Power versus Force” – David, Hawkins. And this sums it up perfectly
The beauty of this moment is that it allows you to let go of your past and quite often we have a past that we need to let go of,
Letting Go – David Hawkins
To bring presence in all that you do is to shift your attention to what the moment is offering you. It is hard to believe but every moment has a specific purpose. This moment is extremely important for your spiritual and life development, are you paying attention?
How to become present and sit with awareness?
It is really simple, sit with your spine straight and take a couple of deep breaths. Place your hands in your lap and notice the sounds that you hear around you. As this brings awareness to your surroundings begin to notice how your body feels, as you breath. With your attention on your breath notice what thoughts, feelings or sensations come up for you. Don’t run away from them, just sit with it and notice.
This is the practice of awareness, do this for 5-10 minutes if you’re just starting out, before bed or as you wake up. It will bring you all the insights you need to let go of anything that is making you feel stuck.
Love and light,
The Rack Life Team x
